Our Animal Care Technicians are responsible for the daily care, feeding, cleaning, exercise, enrichment, and observation of our furry friends at LRHS, ensuring their physical and mental health and well-being during their stay.

Payment: $18+ per hour to start, more depending on experience.

Schedule: Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays from 8 am – 4 pm, year-round. Candidates must be able to Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays.

Duties include:

• Cleaning and sanitizing cat rooms, dog kennels, and common areas
• Laundry, dishes, and restocking
• Monitoring and recording behavioral/medical needs of our cats and dogs
• Feeding and medicating cats and dogs
• Walking and playing with dogs and socializing cats

Public interaction includes showcasing pets to possible adopters, overseeing safe dog-dog meet and greet appointments, answering pet related questions and helping visitors find their purrrr-fect match. This role involves working closely with our small team of animal advocates. You’ll assist with adoptions by processing applications and ensuring adopters are fully informed about the animal they intend to adopt.

LRHS team members are expected to lend a paw wherever needed and take on other tasks and projects as assigned by management. To succeed in this position, one must be dependable, hard-working, positive, kind, communicative, versatile and patient with humans and animals alike.

Physical Requirements:

• Physical ability to safely and humanely handle large and small animals using fear-free techniques (LRHS is willing to train you).
• Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods.
• Ability to navigate stairs while carrying items such 40-pound bags of litter or food (flex those meowscles!)
