Our volunteer process is quick & easy.
Step 1: Complete and submit the appropriate online Volunteer Application below.
Step 2: LRHS will call to set up an Orientation Appointment.
Step 3: Come on in; whether your preference is dog walking, cat cuddling, office work or getting down and dirty to help clean, we will be sure to find a job for you!
Must be at least 16 years old to volunteer without parent/guardian supervision. 14-15 year olds may volunteer if a parent/guardian is present and supervising them. Unfortunately, we cannot accept volunteers under the age of 14.

Become a Certified LRHS Dog Walker!
Step 1: Complete a Volunteer Application.
Step 2: Take the Free Dog Walking Orientation.
Step 3: Complete 15 hours of general dog care.
Step 4: Complete 5 staff chaperoned dog walks.
Step 5: Congratulations, you’ve made it! You get a free T-shirt, safety whistle and may walk shelter dogs anytime you’d like.
Louise Daigle will be offering an orientation which is required before joining this specialty Volunteer Dog Walking Program.
Participants will learn how to read dog body language, properly adjust collars and harnesses, safely remove a dog from a kennel, react in dog related emergencies and more!
The next orientation will be held here on Saturday, June 3rd from 11 am – 1 pm.
